.
One month later....

My apologies for the great silence. Much has been brewing at home, and the responsibilities of fatherhood have kept me occupied.

Right now, I'm awaiting the arrival of my firstborn son....already a day beyond his due date. So much for bearing the mark of the 25th. Greer will just have to find his own time, I guess.

Right now, we're watching movies. "Mars Attacks" is currently spinning. I've moved the TV/DVD upstairs to help pass the time as we wait for nature to take its course. Alex is trying to keep as comfortable as possible - drinking warm water and taking it as easy. I just do her bidding.

Forgive me if I ramble. Not blogging for a while has left me with a little extra to share. A few words that need to be heard.

Christmas Eve and the day itself went off without a hitch. The family came and went without much fanfare - other than the peace that comes with people you love. With an impending birth, I felt the hours slip by - bathed in the Christmas glow, but strangely attracted to other matters. The first Christmas since my grandmother passed away. In her house....now our house. Greer's nursery in the room she spent the most time in. His crib in her corner.

Flash back to a different time without worries and slowed down for your memorial convenience. Christmas 1976. Wide lapels and Perry Como on the turntable. Green polyester Sunday suits and hard shiny shoes.

I've been here before. And soon, my son will be.
