2006 arrives...Dave departs

Can't begin to summarize the past few weeks....it's like the rollercoaster that never ends.

With the holiday season past, the reality of unemployment and getting prepped for the massive responsibilities that the twins will bring has offically set in. I took down the decorations and began to balance my time between housework, projects and trying to stay out of that dark place that my moods can take me. The days pass pretty quickly when this is the regimine...

Wash, Rinse, Repeat. Then the morning of January 11th hit like a ton of bricks.

I was getting Greer ready for daycare when the call came at 8am. It was Dad...I could hear my Mom sobbing in the background. Our uncle Dave - husband to my Mom's sister, occasional caregiver for Greer and manager of our housing affairs - had suddenly passed away at the breakfast table...the victim of an apparent heart attack. Went for a walk...sat down to pray for breakfast...and was gone, just like that.

Unbelievable - and strangely, par for the course.

Spent the next week preparing for the memorial by producing a dvd slideshow and helping the family with whatever they needed. I'm still dealing with some aspects of the aftermath...working on a website and just being there for Dianne.

  • Greg! I am so sorry for the loss of your uncle and also your job of course. And I am floored! Twins! We haven't kept in touch but our Norah has been playing "where's Greer?" with Greer's little baby picture for the last couple of days and I just had to see how you were doing.

And of course, I felt like we had some news--with daughter number two slated to make an appearance in the next couple of weeks. I am so thankful I popped online to "see you". Please email and let us know how you are doing, how Alex is doing and how your boy and girls are doing.

    Love,
Traci (on behalf of all the Hiltons.)
