Music on film - Vortex I coming soon!
"Malfukshun: The Andrew Wood Story" is plugging along this week. Despite a monster writeup in the Willamette Week - and other strong reviews, it looks like Labor Day got the best of it. It's just about ready to finish its run - with one more screening at MusicFestNW. Definately a must see for NW music fans - and ironically, may face the same fate as MC5: A True Testomonial - as it appears to be having distribution issues.
Aside from the excellent selection of music films playing next week, we've got a locally-made gem booked for the end of September. "Vortex I: A Biodegradable Festival of Life" played at the Bagdad back in August and packed the house. It's a short, sweet documentary that follows the production of a Woodstock-style rock show called Vortex I - that took place near Estacada, OR. Don't want to give too much away, but it's very good - and a great slice of Oregon's psycedelic and political history.
