It was my day off. My fiance woke me with a phone call from work at 8:30am...not long after the second tower collapsed. She said I should turn on the TV. Flipping on the television I saw a plane fly into one of the World Trade Center towers - a taped moment grafted into the ramble of news. It was before people knew what had hit them. While the horror and disbelief were still fresh. I remembered the San Francisco earthquake - the LA riots - every televised assasination and violent protest I had seen. A weird sense of history and an acknowledgement of infamy washed over me as I grabbed a VHS tape an slipped it into my recorder. Remember this moment and what it means. Remember that you are vulnerable. Remember that things will never be the same. Be vigilant and cool-headed in all things. |

Met Ralph Nader last night. His hands were jammed into the pockets of his old school business suit. and he mumbled when he spoke to the crowds. Seemed more like a mildly confused grade school principal than the guy who helped decide the last election. Ralph is the underdog. |
